Maximilian Steinhaus was born in Erfurt in 1986. After graduating from high school he completed a European volunteer service in the German-French meeting place F.I.E.F. in Provence. Subsequently, he studied law at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena with a focus on international private and civil procedural law as well as alternative conflict resolution methods. After graduating in 2012 he was employed for several years at a corresponding chair.
As a supporting member of the foundation he was involved in creating the gbs university group Jena, of which he was spokesman since March 2014. In addition, he is speaker of the gbs regional group Mittelthüringen as well as the gbs art action campaign "11. Gebot - Du sollst deinen Kirchentag selbst bezahlen!" ("11th Commandment: Thou shalt pay for thy Church Days thyself!"). He is also active on behalf of the Humanisticher Pressedienst (hpd - Humanistic Press Service). Since March 2015 he has supported the foundation as regional group coordinator.
