Spinoza (1632 - 1677), als Atheist verschrieen und verfemt, war der erste europäische Freidenker. Er war ein Mensch, der keiner Religion oder Konfession angehörte und doch - unerhörterweise - ein untadeliges Leben führte. Indem er Gott und Natur gleichsetzte ("deus sive natura"), lehrte er einen religiös verkleideten Materialismus. (weiter...) [4]
