Griefahn, Monika [2]

Monika Griefahn was born on October 3, 1954, in Mülheim an der Ruhr. After graduating from high school she studied mathematics and sociology in Göttingen and Hamburg, graduating as a sociologist in 1979. From 1980 to 1983 she held the position of co-managing director of the environmental organization Greenpeace Germany, of which she was one of the founding members. She organized campaigns for the protection of the North Sea and - in the course of her work for Greenpeace Germany and Greenpeace International - further campaigns against chemical pollution of the seas and rivers. From 1984 to 1990 Monika Griefahn was the first woman to serve on Greenpeace International's board of directors and was responsible for establishing new offices worldwide, and was responsible for both education and training.

Haderer, Gerhard [3]

Gerhard Haderer was born in 1951 in Leonding (Upper Austria). He graduated from the Technical College for Commercial and Advertising Graphics in Linz, followed by an apprenticeship as an engraver in Stockholm. In 1984 he published his first satirical drawings. From 1985 numerous caricatures followed in the Austrian magazine Profil, subsequently also in the magazines Wiener, Titanic, GEO, and Stern. Since 1987 he has also been active as a book author.

Herzberg, Rolf Dietrich [4]

Herzberg was born in 1938 in Wuppertal and received his high school diploma in 1957. He studied law at the University of Cologne. He completed the two tiers of the State Examinations in Law in 1962 and 1966 respectively. After he received his PhD in law (1966), his doctoral supervisor Dietrich Oehler also supervised his habilitation (1971). Ruhr-Universität Bochum appointed him to the chair of criminal law, criminal procedure law, and general legal theory in 1974. He has been emeritus professor since 2003.

Hilgendorf, Eric [5]

Hilgendorf studied philosophy, modern history, and law in Tübingen. He received his PhD in philosophy with a thesis on "Argumentation in der Jurisprudenz" ("Argumentation in Jurisprudence") and his doctorate in Law for a study on "Strafrechtliche Produzentenhaftung in der Risikogesellschaft" ("Criminal Producer Liability in the Risk Society"). In 1996 he habilitated in criminal law, criminal procedural law, and philosophy of law.

Hinz, Ricarda [6]

Ricarda Hinz was born in 1970 in Bocholt. From 1990 to 1998 she studied communication design at GH Essen University and now lives as a freelance documentary filmmaker in Düsseldorf. Until 2010 she was a member of Jacques Tilly's Sculpturepark team, and collaborated closely with him on other projects. With his support she also produced the film "Die hasserfüllten Augen des Herrn Deschner" ("The hateful eyes of Mr. Deschner", 1998).

Jung, Mathias [7]

Mathias Jung was born in 1941 in Constance. After graduating from high school he studied philosophy, German language and literature, and educational science in Münster, Vienna, and Bonn. Jung, who was active in the 60s student movement, received his PhD on the problems of Neo-Kantianism. This was followed by various activities as a journalist at the peace newspaper "Deutsche Volkszeitung" in Düsseldorf, teaching philosophy and history at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, and working as a freelance journalist.

Kanitscheider, Bernulf [8]

Bernulf Kanitscheider was born in Hamburg in 1939. He received his PhD in 1964 in Innsbruck on "Das Problem des Bewusstseins" ("The Problem of Consciousness") and habilitated in 1970 in philosophy at the University of Innsbruck on the subject "Geometrie und Wirklichkeit" ("Geometry and Reality"). In 1974 he was appointed to the newly established chair of philosophy of natural sciences at the University of Giessen (Center for Philosophy and Foundations of Science).

Kehrer, Günter [9]

Günter Kehrer was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1939. He studied sociology and history in Frankfurt (Main) and Tübingen, where he received his PhD in 1965 and his habilitation in 1970. For many years he was professor of religious studies and sociology of religion at the University of Tübingen. His main fields of work were sociology of religion, recent history of religion, and new religious movements. Kehrer, one of the most renowned representatives in sociology of religion, never made a secret of his private disbelief.

König, Ralf [10]

Ralf König was born on August 8, 1960, in Soest/Westphalia. After school he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter. From 1981 to 1986 he studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf with a focus on free art. In the eighties he became known to a growing audience as a humorous chronicler of the gay movement with "SchwulComix". His breakthrough was in 1987 with the bestsellers "Kondom des Grauens" ("The Killer Condom") and "Der bewegte Mann" ("Maybe... Maybe Not"), both of which were made into films shortly afterwards.

Kruse, Max [11]

Max Kruse was born in 1921 in Bad Kösen as the youngest son of sculptor Max Kruse and doll artist Käthe Kruse: He lived in Switzerland from 1933 to 1935, and although he did not attend a regular school until the age of 20 for health reasons, he graduated from high school in Weimar and began his studies in Jena, which he could not finish because of the war. He was never a soldier.
