Baudson, Tanja Gabriele

Dr. Tanja Gabriele Baudson, psychologist, giftedness researcher

Tanja Gabriele Baudson, born in Koblenz in 1976, majored in Romance and American Studies at the University of Bonn and at the Sorbonne in Paris (master's degree in 2002) and in psychology in Bonn and Gold Coast (Australia). In 2011 she received her PhD with summa cum laude from the University of Trier on the topic: "The (Mis-)Measure of Children's Cognitive Abilities". She also spent several months in Japan and the USA for research purposes.

Following postdoctoral research at the "Educational Testing Service" in Princeton, she was appointed to the chair of Educational Psychological Diagnostics at the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2014, and from 2016 to 2017 she held the chair of "Methods of Empirical Educational Research" at the TU Dortmund University. In the following two years (2017-2019), she taught "Developmental Psychology, Developmental Psychopathology and General Psychology" as substitute professor at the Université du Luxembourg. She is currently leading a research project on disadvantaged highly gifted people on behalf of Mensa in Deutschland e.V.

Her work and research focuses on the fields of giftedness, creativity and intelligence. She has developed, among other things, two standardised intelligence tests, carried out research on prejudices against the highly gifted and directs the "Giftedness" section of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Positiv-Psychologische Forschung (DGPPF).

In 2017 Tanja Gabriele Baudson (together with Claus Martin) initiated and coordinated the nationwide "March for Science" in Germany, in which a total of 37,000 people in 22 cities demonstrated for the freedom of science and which was supported by many universities and organizations (including the Giordano Bruno Foundation). The movement gave rise to the association "March for Science e.V.", which was founded in the same year and is chaired by Tanja Gabriele Baudson (alongside Claus Martin).

Baudson has received numerous national and international awards, including the Teaching Award of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate 2010/2011 and the "Award for Excellence in Research" of the "Mensa Foundation" in 2014/15 and 2016/17. Her blog "Hochbegabung" (on the scientific blog portal SciLogs) was named "best science blog 2016", and in 2018 she received the award "University Teacher of the Year" from the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers.
