Martin Perscheid, born in 1966, is one of the most famous German cartoonists. His cartoon series "Perscheids Abgründe", which is published in about 50 newspapers and magazines on a regular basis, was awarded the "Max & Moritz Prize" in 2002. Perscheid, whose works repeatedly deal with irrationalism, superstition and religion, has been drawing for the series "Spott sei Dank" of the Humanistic Press Service since 2018. In October 2020 he was appointed to the advisory board of the Giordano Bruno Foundation.

Since 1995 Perscheid has published about 30 books. His calendars, postcards and posters also meet with great popularity. His colleague Jacques Tilly, who usually refrains from superlatives, judges him: "Martin Perscheid is simply the greatest. (...) No one exposes the profound stupidity of religious fanatics, brain-dead right-wing radicals, conspiracy theorists and irrationalists of all kinds more accurately and wittily than he does".
