The organisers of the Critical Islam Conference (including the Giordano Bruno Stiftung) have called on the German government to protest "with all determination" against the imminent executions of ex-Muslims in Iran.
At a press conference held at the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government on September 17, the "Campaign against the Genital Mutilation of Goddaughters", supported by the gbs, was presented to the public.

One highlight of the Frankfurt Darwin Festival was the premiere of the amusing short film "Susie Smartypants explains the evolution" based on the book with the same name by Michael Schmidt-Salomon and Helge Nyncke, published recently for Darwin's birthday.
From now on, Ascension Day should be called Evolution Day! This is the target of a campaign launched by the Giordano Bruno Stiftung on Ash Wednesday. The Darwin Year 2009 offers an excellent opportunity to establish the enormous gain in knowledge through the theory of evolution more firmly in society, explained gbs spokesman Michael Schmidt-Salomon at the foundation's headquarters in Mastershausen.
February 12, 2009, is Charles Darwin's 200th birthday. The following day, Friday, February 13, a ceremony will be held at the German National Library in Frankfurt (Adickesallee 1, 60322 Frankfurt/M) in honour of the founder of the theory of evolution. The event is organized by the Darwin Year Committee of the Giordano Bruno Stiftung and the working group Evolutionary Biology in Verband Biologie, Biowissenschaften & Biomedizin.
